David, welcome!

I listen to a lot of different types of music. I usually listen to instrumental when I am writing unless its Swift Killas. I like to listen to rap or rock when I write those. =)

I am a fan of Peter David and his New Frontier series. I've always liked Ian Flemming and Raymond Benson who also does James Bond Novels and Splinter Cell novels. I've read some Zane and like Tiare Tuairau's when the Quiet Screams. Now keep in mind that I also like classics like Edgar Allen Poe's works and things from Sophocles. So I like a wide range of authors.

I wrote Swift Killas Origins and while it is finished it still needs to be editied. Right Now Maryam Sousan of Prisige Editing is handling that.
If anyone needs help editing their work, be it a manuscript or a resume check out http://www.prestigeediting.com It will be well worth your time.
As for Twilight, that is the tentivive title for the final Swift Killas book. Both books should be due to come out in 2011.

Congrats Jerry, you are one of a select few that actually got into Alone. Alone Stage one was a failure because E.J and I could not see eye to eye on the project. After a while he walked away and left it so the characters were left in limbo for some years. I had nearly finished the second one before E.J left so I published it but left a cliff hanger because I planned on finishing the trilogy but with the books not selling it was rough. Will there be a final Alone book, yes more than likely I can't get it out until maybe 2011 or 2012. Sorry.

Why are there so many spelling errors in your books?

Reply

With respect Frank, spell check is both my friend and my enemy. Also, often times my mind is working at such a fast pace that my fingers can't keep up. So it's a little tough, but with the help of Maryam at prestigeediting.com I have corrected a lot of gramatical errors and hope to continue using her services. Sorry if they bother you. But sometimes getting the story out so I stay relevent is more important.
But that should never be an excuse.

I use to fight this question because people were constantly saying I was Swift and then later on the Rake. Well, the truth is every artist puts a piece of themself into their work. It happenes if they know it or not, if they care to admit to it or not. That's the truth and I am no exception. Swift is my outlet just like the Rake and Rogue Accord. They let me be someone else without causing harm to those around me in reality.
Now as for what people have to say about me on here. I don't know what to tell you. Sandra people have said some pretty crazy things which I can tell you now, are not true! But which statements on Weebly.com are true or false i leave to your imagination.

Nancy, since i am a self published author its sometimes best to get my books from Amazon.com or Weebly.com or if you like the Rake go to Author House.com. Borders and Barnes and Noble want a piece of the pie so they hike up the price of the book to turn a profit.

You know, of all my books that's my wife's favorite as well. Actually if you read the book Melissa, David doesn't have to die. You can choose not to read the secret chapter at the end of the book and David will be with Rose forever. NOW! That being said you were warned before the last chapter, that in life not everything turns out to be happy in the end. But if you want to continue the journey Rose is set on she does appear in Swift Killas Vengeance and in Rogue Accord volume one as well as Rogue Accord Pride Before Fall.

At the end of Swift Killas Vengeance Swift had Maryam. They are finally together and it looks like George, Blood, Steve, Smooth and Snowman can't interrupt such a beautiful moment and then just as the two are about to kiss. NOT SCREW, NOT ARGUE, NOT WALK AWAY! As soon as they are about to kiss you have some random ass jet blow them to hell. WHY Mr. Santiago WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT TO US!!!

Jessie, I love random moments but I suppose that is not your forte. SO allow me to let you in on a little secret about Swift Killas. The reason why Swift Killas works so well isn't because of the blood and violence. Sure that helps propell the story but it isn't what makes the the book shine. It's the lovers triangle that makes you all come back.
Will the good George beat the bad Swift and win Maryam's heart?
Without that element the book falls to the way side somewhere. That in mind a missle blew them to hell. Get over it.

Lisa, I am pretty sure the Rake has a gender. The Rake didn't have a name or a discription because you can't please everyone, which is what I wanted to do. Your perfect man/lover would be YOUR perfect image not the next person. So I tried very hard not to give him a race or describe him because that would kill what the next person's idea of a perfect man. I hope that helps.

Well I like self publishing because when I was starting out everyone kicked dirt in my face. Now I am not complaining because this is a right of passage for every writer! Keep that in mind guys. Rejection is very much part of the game make no mistake.
Now I have friends that refuse to do self publishing which is fine. Its a choice that works for them, I just prefer to do Self Publishing because I have the time and ideas to pump books out every month if need be.
But one day in the not too distant future I hope to have a publicist and a rock solid deal. =)

As for why Carlton and Freddie teamed up with Marco...well see that's tough. I wanted to make it open for a sequel if the story did well. With Swift Killas coming to a close I wanted someone new to take his place and fill the void.
But keep this in mind, Marco never wanted to kill Freddie. The Military did. Damn that Bill Danials!!!

Read Petals of Rose and fell in love with all the characters. Ethan was such a prick! I think he and I must have dated. How much of that book is real? What's fake what's not? And Rose, I see you had her posing in the book and she is beyond beautiful. Has she and you ever hooked up? Is that why David died in the end?

Reply

My wife asked me the same question.

Okay, me and Rose never happened. Never have never will and I would very much like those questions to stop. See Rose is a happily married woman with a baby and I don't think its fair to drag her into such questions when I only used her likeness for the book.

As for how much is real? 90% is fake, I used Chicago as my back drop. Rose and a few others who were close to me at the time and then made the rest up like I usually do. David died at the end because like Swift and Maryam, Rose and David were star crossed lovers never meant to be together. It can't happen no matter what we want, its just life as is.

Sorry you dated Ethan, he was an asshole.

Yasser,
Thank you very much and you are most welcome. Much of that credit must go to Maryam though because it was her who taught me about her country and her people. She did this way before 9-11 ever happened. The book, while scruitnized by critics for being un patriatic, didn't come out until 2004. By then the damage had been done but the story was the same.
Many people bought the book because it wasn't about 9-11 and yet Swift had a rage within him that many people felt even three years after the towers fell. Anyway, I'm getting off track.

As to your question...pray you never find out my friend. He's deadly. =)

You put a piece of work on your site which indicates Celena was caught and being beat up by authorities. Celena and crew would have it no other way. I promise as you read the short stories that follows the intro that Celena is just as cunning and leathal as before but not in a "I'm gonna kill you like Swift would" kinda way. =) PROMISE

In Alone Stage One its said that the Merciful Deliverer can harness the power of a sun and shoot its energy at a planet a solar system away causing a black hole. How does the ship do this without melting or being destroyed itself? Seems unlikely

Melissa, yes I did.

Swift blowing up a pregnant woman in a van was frowned upon and rightly so, but that's the character. he's not a hero he's an anti hero that readers fall in love with and sympothizes with.
Naturally using a choir boy as a body shiled while trying to kill a pedofile chathlic priest/assassin was also frowned upon but man did it stirr some controversy. I think I still have those letters too. =)

The original drafts had Glen using his real name and then when the book was going to be published I asked him permission. (Late I know) and he asked if I could use his middle name. Unfortuantly I did not catch all the Glen's in the story thus leaving Glen and Oliver the same person.

Eva, Inforcers was orginally written when I was a young buck. Not knowing spanish I made the planet Eustead and decided to leave it as is years later when i re-wrote the book for publication. Keep in mind that while they do speak spanish on this alien world they do not speak the same kind of spanish as a Spaniard, Mexican or Puerto Rican either. Different world different rules apply.
Hope that helps.

In Rogue Accord Pride Before Fall you had Jackie do some impressive things with a Honda Element but what I can't figure out is before all that mess you had Vincent Anderson try and steal something from a room with ravenous pit bulls who were rabid! Who's idea was that because that had me laughing until my ribs broke. I mean that was both unexpected and ridiculous! Such a biblical piece of fiction!

Naomi that is often the hilight of many Rogue Accord conversations. So many people have taken to liking that scene it's unbelieveable. In Swift Killas Vengeance. What was up with Basin and the whole exotic island theme? And why was Calm imprisoned on an island in the first place. It all seemed very science fictiony for a Swift Killas book? And what's the secret behind crew 408? It seems you had something in mind for them, a spin off perhaps? Would Celena beat Swift in a fight?
What would be something Celena couldn't steal?
What does Celena like in a man?
Would you jump at the chance to see Rogue Accord in a movie or television show?
Would Celena be the type to kill someone if she had to?

I could go on forever~

Hello Ms. Baccarin.

Sorry it took so long but thank you for waiting. It means alot to me believe me.

Celena can't beat Swift, though she has tried.

I don't know if there is anything she couldn't steal. Good question I don't know

Celena likes the rugged bad boy

I would jump at the chance if you played Celena. Otherwise...eh,

Celena doesn't kill but she doesn't have to save either. Take that as you will.

Please ask away!

I'm sorry for the wait. If you meet me, and this goes for everyone, you are automatically subject to being in a book. Not you exactly but parts of your conversation, personality and maybe even likeness but it will never really be you because I change what I have to to suit the story.
I do know a lot of ladies and I have put them in the books in some form or fashion but they would never know which one was them unless I pointed them out. That's how much the lines blurr in the stories.

Mister Santiago, I got into your work about three years ago when I came across your book Swift Killers. The first book lacked a certain editorial touch but was nevertheless engaging and drew me into the world you created. The second book was even better, this one having no doubt been graced by someone who knew how to edit, and the prequel as well as the final book kept me awake as I could not put it down.
I became a huge fan of that series and was heart broken but satisfied with the way it had wrapped up. VERY well done in an age where people would rather wait for the movie than read the book, you Sir had me begging for more chapters. The reason for this email is to reach out after a fairly large discussion among drunken peers. Who in the Marvel universe could Swift beat. Could he beat Iron Man, can he beat Captain America? I am of the mindset that he could beat Tony Stark but not Captain America.
Now a VERY heated discussion came about when Batman was brought into the conversation. I love Batman, I am die hard for some Batman but the way Swift was at the end of the final book...Honestly, I felt like he could make the Hulk jump away in fear. The internal rage Swift had when Maryam was thought to be dead. The disappointment when his own crew left him in the end! Shame on Brandon and Celena...Shame on them.
So despite my love for the dark knight I stood up for my man Swift, and wanted to reach out to you to get a straight answer from the author. Can the Swift Killa beat the Dark Knight?

Reply
Osj
10/13/2016 11:37:02 am

Mr. Hall, thank you for reaching out. I apologize for the delayed response but your question left me to ponder. Batman, the world's greatest detective, the only non super person allowed to be called a super hero verses the Swift Killa. Not an easy question to answer because of so many Batman fanboys (and girls) out there. So let me tell you Batman's greatest strength.

No matter what happens he has to come back next month for the new issue, movie or episode. If the fight were to take place in the realm of DC comics, sure, the only outcome would be Batman wins because it's his comic and no one can one up the hero. (at least not for long)

However if you put Batman and Swift on even ground... Swift would not only win, he'd kill Batman and really, that shouldn't be a surprise. Superman could kill Batman from across the planet if they fought on even ground (Martha be damned) Even Captain America and the Flash could take out Batman. Sure he has all the gadgets and even with his prep time given, Batman is just as human as the next guy. (But with more money)

But how would it play out...Swift Vs. Batman...hmm

Well Swift is an assassin so someone would have to hire him to kill Batman and of course if you could afford to hire the Swift Killa then the job will get done. No question.

Growing up I remember getting a copy of Swift Killas. It was crazy the way it was written but it was so fucking good. The way the characters were felt like they could easily be on a movie. I always thought it would get rewritten to fix the mistakes or whatever but even now, it's one of the better books I've read like this. It's been some years now but this shit is still better than anything out now. I guess I just miss it. I miss all the Swift Killas and with the way shit is now I wish there was someone like this now. Swift was a flawed ass character, they all were but fuck it we all are too. With the politics going on i picture Swift just walking around setting shit right. That aside i wanna feel something the way he felt for Maryam, it just felt so real and this was years ago. I hate like Blood and Juan Antonio do but I love them. I love the fighting I love the emotion. I'm all over the place I know. I appreciate these Swift Killas Books. Just went back to my beat up copy of the first one and was like damn. All those feelings just came back. Swift was king Mr. Santiago and if you created him that says volumes about you. Wish it didn't end the way it did in Renegade but I understood why it had to. You ended it perfectly. But here's the thing I just realized. You said at the end of the first book Swift walked away into the darkness never to return, but he did. He did, three more times. I know you mention him in other books because hes fucking legendary but I think he isn't dead. You just can't kill a man like that. Dark times are now and I know I could use a dark figure to help me through it. #SwiftKillasForever
