Oh it's about time! I never read Swift Killers or Rouge Accord and to be honest I don't care to. I will tell you that I was at work a month back and saw the Rake on someone's chair and totally freaked out. The cover was enough to send me into chills. Such a sexy body with all those hands clawing about his chest and abs ooh la la!
Needless to say I quickly ordered the book over the phone while looking though my co-workers copy and had to bite my lower lip when I saw the beautiful pictures that were inside. Now once I got my copy I will admit, I couldn't put it down. I read that bitch cover to cover and screamed when I got to the end. The ending was both orgasmic and insane with a twist!
Mr. Santiago Jr knows how to please a woman and has a very sexy picture of himself in the back, though nothing will beat the cover.
Whoever this Rake is, please send him directly to my bedroom!

LMAO (Can I say that here) My girl Sara is a trip, she liked the book so much she commented twice. Well I will admit The Rake is hot as hell and the cover does grab you and makes you want to grab yourself. I will kindly admit that this book stays in my bedroom where I can take a quick peak at the cover when the need may arise.
The Rake/Silver Fox knew what to say, how to say it and most importantly when to say it. Reading the dedication to the author's wife was sweet and touching and I have to say I am totally jelous that she found a man that could write like this. Forget the movies, The Rake has enough action and suspense to keep you more than entertained and sex...good LORD!!!

I am a big fan of Petals of Rose. I thought David was a little quirky but sexy in his own way. I guess the biggest thing about that book was that I really felt like I could relate to Rose and how she was trapped in such an abusive relationship.
THe alternate ending was a nice touch too, and the pictures of the actual woman it was based on were a nice touch and very inspiring. After reading the blogs about The Rake I have to say that I will be ordering it right away. I love romance books but a naughty read here and there never hurts.

I had a dream that the Rake turned out to be my boyfriend!

I actually stumbled across this book in Oakbrook while looking for something to take with me on a plane to Kentucky. The book's cover grabs you, no doubt about that but the size of the book kinda puts you off.
So I actually walked around a bit but couldn't stop coming back to look at the cover!!! Needless to say I bought it and ended up reading it the moment I got home. Let me tell you, I pulled out some tea, sat on my couch and jumped right in.
The pictures were a wonderful touch but the story...the story of this man explaining his coming up in this loveless world where he becomes the world's greatest lover was intense. I saw myself as a few of his conquests as he explained what he did to them. Now as I finished to book, a day later I had nothing to read on the plane but magazines.
Low and behold I brought the Rake along and started reading my favorite parts and fell asleep on the plane dreaming that I was in his loft and making love on his bed but in my dream the Rake was my man. When the plane touched down in Kentucky and he picked me up my man was in for the shock of his life. I couldn't help myself I needed him then and there and it was beautiful.
Mad props on the story mr santiago. My boyfriend thanks you!

Having been a little of a sci-fi buff I was actually waiting on Wraith's Bounty to drop. Now that I know that won't happen I picked up the Swift Killas books. To be honest, Swift Killas one was not that hot but Swift Killas two was kick ass. I think that the Maryam character is so sexy and the whole Rogue Accord thing has me thinking that would be a great book too. So if you can re-write Wraith's Bounty, seems like you write these books quick anyways.

Can we talk Inforcers? I loved this super hero team ad their villian Razul. The way this story came together was incrediable. I think there should be more books like this. Any chance of a sequel, I loved their powers and how they came together to make this team.
Oracle is bad ass and you feel for the guy after loosing his home to a 'Death Star' knock off. Keep up the great work Orlando and give us another Inforcers!!!

I won't say my name but I actually worked with the author of the rake while he was writting it. He always told me and the others that it was going to be a how to guide for men. Orlando had always had a lot of luck talking to females. Sometimes they would just walk up to him and start running at the mouth.
Anyway he said that we should pick up his books and that we could be dope like that. Well a year later when the book came out I picked it up, read the thing cover to cover and completely saw what he was getting at. Yeah the rake has a plot and a lot of sex but if you read between the lines orlando tells you how to have game.
Inside those pages and beyond the pictures are a list of how to pick up women, how to think and act like a real rake. Before the book I had only one woman my whole life. After that book I had six in a span of 18 months. Many guys talk good game but or look like they got good game but Orlando puts his shit to work and that man can work. Mad props for creating this book man, mad props!

Damn the rake, fuck Inforcers, to hell with Alone! Swift is the ultimate bad ass!!! In another blog someone said Swift was winey or something to that effect, well re-read the story woman! The man can be winey if he wants to! He walks into a building full of mafia badies and kills them all!!! He seduces women by just being in the area, the rake can't do that!

Huge fan of the series Swift Killas. Can't wait for my copy of Rogue Accord to come in the mail. I did want to say that I loved the Rake. I felt as though the main character was actually a tortured soul much like Swift. I found the story to be both entertaining and insightful but you never mention the Rake's name. Could it be that Mr. Santiago is the Rake? Could he be some alternate form of Swift? I know I am reading into things now but since I don't know the author I figured throw it out there to see what others had to say.
The Rake knows how to treat a woman and I learned a thing or two myself while reading this piece. I suggest eveyone buy this one because unlike many of Zane's stories The Rake has a nice plot with twists that blow you away. Mad props!

I have some insite for the fans on their favorite writer. Orlando Santiago Jr is both sweet and cruel. He will die to defend the ones he loves and will destroy anyone who hurts those he love. I've never in my life met someone so dedicated to proving something to himself. Never say it can't be done because he WILL do it. His books for instance, teachers told him he'd never be famous for his writing. TEACHERS TOLD HIM THIS!!!
The Rake was touching and realistic, Swift Killas was brutal and savage, both are parts of this mans personality. Once you understand this you've taken one step closer to understanding the man behind the words, but as you look ahead to take that second step you'll realize that you've been pushed back because that's what Orlando does. He gives you the reality that you can handle whether you know it or not.
He will keep your head in the clouds. He will blind you with illusions and fairytales about whatever it is that he deems necessary. This is what makes him Unique, this is why Unique Realities excelles, this is Orlando Santiago Jr, a man of many tallents and master of them all.

Unchained’s poets are amazing in every sense of the word, each poet compliments and or contrasts the next. Orlando can be very angry with his work and then very goofy, Tiare was always deep and emotional, the Rake helped me woo my wife and Sindy let’s you into her life, while Stephine’s poems confuse and force you to think. A wonderful piece of work that left me… dare I say, Unchained.

There is not a more common hero archetype in historical romance than the “Rake”. In my early days of reading, I always viewed the “Rake” as a sign of virility of the hero. In romance novels, the women titter about the Rake’s scandalous reputation while parading their young in front of him. The adage “Rakes make the best husbands” is passed as truth. In this post, I am making the case that the rake isn’t a very heroic trait.
What does a Rake really signify? There’s the saying “every man wanted to be him and every woman wanted to be with him.” To be a Rake meant that you really made no effort to turn anyone down. A rake is a man with few scruples. He sleeps with widows, married women and often engages in dalliances with young unmarried women and certainly has sex with courtesans and maybe even whores of a lower class. A Rake is really a man with little honor. By sleeping with married women, he engages in cheating. By seducing the young unmarried women, he places his desires in front of their reputation, the most important thing a young girl had. By dallying with servants, he takes advantage of someone who really can’t say no. How many books have we read about the beautiful governess who is hassled by her employer. The fact that a man is a Rake doesn’t mean he is good in bed, it mainly means he’s indiscriminate. Yet, for some reason, being a Rake is something virtually celebrated amongst romance books.
How Santiago was able to turn such a person into likeable guy is beyond me, and while I did enjoy the plot twists he was still a rake.

I hate Rakes and try to avoid them if I can, which is hard because it’s such a popular trope. It doesn’t help that I rarely buy the Rake’s redemption, especially when the “Rake is reformed because the heroine is a sweet virgin”. I also can’t stop thinking about STDs when I read about a Rake. Am I the only one who does that?
I prefer the Darcy type of character. The man who’s responsible and usually does the right thing. Like the hero in “Make Me Yours by Betina Krahn” or “She’s No Princess by Laura Lee Guhrke”

Wow. Just wow. I never knew all those things about a Rake. Thanks for the shaming lecture for those who enjoy a good redeemed Rake story – and so early in the morning, too. I’ll try to read improving fiction from now on so my morals won’t be sullied by those trashy erotic romance novels. For Shame Mr. Santiago, never come out with a sequel to the Rake… Never! But should you, I won’t complain.

@M.

You seemed to have missed the point; after all, Jane specifically says she likes stories where the rake is redeemed (though I agree with Sam about the STDs!). It’s unredeemed rakes, and characters who are described as rakes but clearly aren’t, who are the problem.
Peronsally, I do feel the term rake has to be justified; either in the character’s actions or in the other character’s perception of him – I quite like stories where the character has to prove they’re not actually a rake, for example. Irredemable rakes (or to use the modern term, “utter coldhearted bastards”) have their place, but it’s not as the hero of a novel.

Ros

The appeal of the rake-story is, for me at least, the power that it gives to the heroine – she is the one who can redeem this man, who can tame him, who can change him. And while in real life rakes are not that easily redeemed, in a romance novel with a HEA, we can believe that they are. We can believe that the love of a good woman can overcome the dissolution, the lack of self-control, the devaluing of women and so on. So no, I don’t like rake-stories that celebrate rakishness. But I love the stories that redeem the rake and show his journey to integrity. Devil’s Cub is my total favourite here.

Wow, #2, I think you need a break from the internet if your impulse is to read a personal attack into an op-ed by one reader about her feelings regarding a well-known literary trope.
Anyway, back to the subject. I think there are many ways to make a hero seem unusual, wild, a bit scary, definitely sexy, and even, dare I say it, predatory in demeanor (if that’s what you’re going for) without making him a rake. But I think rake has come to be the shorthand for this set of characteristics.
I only find “The Rake” (TM) sexy and “successful” if he is written well — and by “well,” I mean that his amoral philandering has real and serious consequences for the story stakes — in romance, of course, the main stakes are his shot at love with the heroine. You mention To Have and To Hold and Scandal, the former of which I loved, the latter of which I liked very much — and both of these books make rakishness one of the main conflicts to the HEA, which is why they work so well.
But more often, rakishness is simply used as another character attribute, and I think it is considered to function as a shorthand for telling (rather than showing) two things: 1) the hero is dead sexy / really good in bed / a high-value “catch”; 2) his love for the heroine must indeed be “special,” because look at all the other women he’s scored with who could not tempt him to settle down!
That sort of shorthand is lazy and also really ineffective. In my mind, heroes can’t be such if they do not have respect for women. Moreover, rakes also lack respect for themselves. If you don’t show me the process whereby love leads the disrespectful rake back onto the back of righteous respect and honorable behavior, both in regard to himself and the heroine — or, worse yet, you leave me convinced that his respect and courtesy are reserved for the heroine alone — then you ultimately fail to convince me that he IS the stuff heroes are made of.
And yeah, I think of the STD thing too, Sam.

“The Rake” made my Firefox crash… :)

I certainly believe that the trope has been incredibly overused and the label slapped on way too many men who certainly do not qualify for it, just for the shorthand titillation factor.
That said, I still love the original rakes: Damerel in Heyer’s ‘Venetia’, Avon from ‘These Old Shades’ and Dominic from ‘Devil’s Cub’. And in the next generation, Reggie from Putney’s ‘The Rake and the Reformer’ and naturally Orlando Santiago’s modern day heart throb THE RAKE, to whom we never know his name or nationality which I enjoyed greatly!!!

I read a lot of historicals, and there’s almost no escaping the rake. And sometimes I have these same thoughts you’re having.
When I think of friends I’ve known for years, almost all of them have been in “relationships” (sometimes of hour-long length, true) with the modern version of a rake. Fortunately, none of us married one or stayed with one. Maybe the rake fantasy plays on the men that we might have been passionate about at one time, the ones that aren’t suitable for real-life relationships but still make us wonder “What if…?” Just because I knew better than to (eventually) extricate myself from men who were players doesn’t mean they didn’t really excite me in some way.
Our hormones are demanding things :)
As with most things, it comes down to the skill of the writer. There are some writers who could show me scenes of pretty despicable behavior in a hero, and I’ll still root for him to get the girl, *and* somehow my modern sensibilities aren’t squicked. But when I start thinking about the diseases the guy’s carrying or how Country Miss X is ruined because of one night with the jerk, well… he remains a jerk to me. And it’s not a good sign when I start feeling protective of the heroine and wishing I could sit her down for a cup of coffee and a biscotti to tell her Honey No.
But that’s not the case in Santiago’s ‘The Rake’. He’s done a marvelous job at making the modern day Chicago Rake a person you can believe in. You understand to a point why he’s a rake and what Alfalore was doing to him. She played him like a fiddle!!! Never the less I wanted to scream for

What’s in a name?
It’s only 2 letters between rake and roue. The dictionary definitions are exactly the same. Yet in romance novels, one is a young, sexy, edgy, and promiscuous; the other is old, fat, and syphilitic.
I like the “fake rakes” who are more common in romances–the edgy, slighlty dangerous young man with a reputation worse than his substance–better than a real rake who views women as sexual playthings and *will* age into a roue unless he’s redeemed somehow.

Rakes overused? Hell yes! Why? Because they work.
As has already been said, you get redemption and the heroine with all the power in a rake story. What’s not to like? Since the trope is so powerful, it’s done a lot. And that means more chances for it to be done poorly. But still. I love a good rake plot. I do, I do!

You guys have been getting way too deep with this subject. Orlando's Rake is a modern day heart throb that knows what he wants and goes for it. Too many guys are scared to approch a woman the way this man does. Now keep in mind that this IS a story where unless the author wants, there is no STD's. It's a story, a hot steamy adventure to play with your imagination for a little while. A simple yet explosive release from reality.
Orlando's Rake is by far the best Rake I have ever read and there are many out there. To date this is the best I promise you, and if you don't agree read the book again and close your eyes after every chapter. HE WILL SEDUCE YOU!!!!!! LOL, just like it says on the cover.

I was a huge fan of Petals of Rose and am just now reading the Rake. Thanks for letting me know about this site, I didn't know that Swift Killas: Vengeance and Petals of Rose had intertwined, that makes so much sense now that I recall that chapter at the bank.
I must say though, the Rake is an awesome story that has gotten me and my girls talking. The way you make this man move, talk and even make love to these girls is off the hook! I enjoyed reading what everyone had to say about the Rake. I even like how Rita spoke about poetry and threw in how she wanted to meet him. That was just too precious. Now i don't know anything about Swift Killas, Inforcers, Rogue Accord or poetry books but what I do know is about the Rake.
Reason being, I was with some of my girls one night talking about girl stuff when one of them admitted to having met a man in a bar, who approached her as if the table she was sitting in was in fact his regular table. Those of you who read the book know where this is going. This man seduced my girl and took her back to his place where he, and I am quoting my girl, "Fucked the shit out of me so God damned good I nearly cried when I left."
Is this a coincidence or is there really a Rake out there who is the master at seducing women. Could it be Mr. Santiago? I personally doubt it but he may know how to get in contact with him. This isn't the only story I've heard either. I have a few friends who have told me they think they are the woman in the book but only a few can go into detail like the author did.
As for me, I love the way Orlando describes how the Rake enters a room with a shit load of confidence. That shit turns me on. The way he looks at a woman from across the room and knows, just knows he's taken you and lit your soul ablaze. I read this book biting my lip, rubbing my legs and breathing heavily as each page got deeper and deeper. Like Rita said, the Rake is a freak I too would love to (fuck) I mean, meet.

I don't know John, Swift may be cool but Celena is a sexy little thing. Besides, Swift is a hard core killer or if I may coin a phrase 'Killa'. The Rake is a lover not a fighter, at least not from what I read. Now don't get me wrong, I love Swift and Smooth and Snow and Maryam but let's face it peeps. Swift is now an older character the author has moved on giving us Celena. I think it's time to just move on and let the Swift Killa go.

As a gay male living in the great state of Austin Texas, I will say that I wish to God Swift was homosexual. Now I did read the Rake, I did like this male Casonova alot but there's something raw about Swift that I love. Swift could just kill (or killa) a man and not give a damn and the way he banged that Nite Killa chick was kick ass, especially after the way he just left her ass.
I know alot of people were mad about the way Orlando left the readers at the end of Swift Killas: Vengeance but look at the way he ended Swift Killas, I think it was better that way because in my mind he forgot all about Maryam and came over to my house.
As for Rogue Accord and Pride Before Fall, that was my shit! Oliver/Glen was off the hook and the way the girls dressed and how hot they looked was all great. Celena is my boo, I love her, I love Jackie and Jessica and I for sure love me some Oliver/Glen. That was my shit!!!!! You go Mr. Orlando Santiago Jr. YOU GO!!!!!

P.S HUGE FAN of Swift Killas and Rogue Accord

I love what people have to say about the author. Orlando Santiago Jr. must be a hell of a guy if people are saying things like “If he were not born, it would be necessary for the world to create him.” and “If you’ve never been seduced, talk to him in person just once,” It's like he really is the Rake, I mean if people are saying things like that. I know this is his site for the books but have anyone else heard anything about this guy, or maybe met him. I would send a message to the Swift Killas woman Maryam but I figured she'd just say the same things. I'm just curious.

Oh my GOD!!!! I was just reading through the site when Christine's message popped up. I had just broken up with my boyfriend; well he broke up with me. This was last week near the Harlem and Irving mall and I walked into Borders to clean myself up. I must have been looking a total mess but I remember ducking into the isle with the calendars and he approached me and said. 'When God made you, he was showing off.'

I don't know why but that meant the world to me and I started laughing. (While crying) He gave me a hug and told me in the end everything is going to be alright and if it's not then it's obviously not the end. I thanked him and he walked away. Did not know it was Orlando until someone from the store walked up and asked if I got his autograph. This sales woman totally freaked me out when she told me he wrote like a bunch of books, one of which was in the store. So I picked up a copy of Petals of Rose and totally freaked out that this man who wrote this book took time to console me. I mean, how sweet that was.

I know he's married but damn, he is an awesome person. I can only hope that I meet someone as sweet as he is. Oh before I forget, I love Petals of Rose, it is the sweetest, kindest book I have ever read. I can only imagine what the other books are like.

I don't know Orlando but he knew a girlfriend of mine who passed away in 2008. She looked him up after reading one of his books and much to everyone's surprise he did show up and spent a lot of time with her at the hospital.
The one day I was suppose to meet him I was late and had just missed him but my girl Fye said he was taking notes to make another one of those Swift Killas novels that you guys have mentioned before. She told me and her father that she had inspired him and that he would write the book. Sadly Fye died before the book released.
So anyways my girl had this to say about Orlando. I pulled it off one of her old web journals. Hope this adds to or at least compliments what everyone else has to say about Orlando Santiago Jr.

"No words can describe Orlando but I’ll try. He’s a people magnet, and when you’re around him you know why. He makes you laugh and boosts your ego. Orlando makes you feel good about yourself and always has a story to tell, both fiction and non-fiction. When you read his books you don’t feel like you’re reading but rather watching a movie unfold right before your eyes. Then you talk to him and it’s the same feeling, when he tells you about Chicago, or his closest friends you just want to be apart of his inner circle. Orlando is a great man, an awesome friend and an incredible writer." Fye Sousan

Orlando is a real life hero. I use to hear him talk and think many things he said was nothing more than a fabrication or one of his stories. Then one day my son ran out into the middle of traffic and Orlando sprang into action. Before anyone even realized what had happened Orlando took my son into his arms and protected him from an on coming car. God bless this man and all he does.

Orlando is the only person I know that can seduce you with a look, a touch or a kiss. No matter where I was in my life he was there for me and I am proud to have had him in my life. More importantly his books not only touch and inspire people they secretly draw you a vague picture of his life and that’s truly unique.

I met Orlando years ago at a party. No one saw him come in, he just appeared and mingled with everyone like he was the host. He told us about his book, Swift Killers, and how it was going to be the best book ever. Then before any of us caught his name, after he had us all laughing he disappeared. A year later I saw him and he had become everything he said he would. Too bad he’s married.

This man took a beat up ’88 Accord and smoked a 2001 Mustang. He’s knocked out a heavy weight with no losses in 27 seconds. He’s written a novel in nine days, talked a married woman into having dinner with him in front of her husband, and has dated some of the most beautiful women in Illinois. You hear this and you don’t believe it until you see him in action. Orlando is unreal!

I just finished this book last week and I believe that it is the same person. Alfalore may have been an awesome character but if she's a real life person (Given she must think and act the same as her 'fictional' counterpart) holy cow! Then that definitely means that Orlando Santiago Jr. is in fact the Rake, at least in some aspect. Talk about drama!

Orlando Santiago Jr. walks like a panther on the prowl. His sharp eyes have such a threatening grace that you are left stunned. Then he speaks and his deep voice just melts you. He will be nothing more than a gentleman but he does it in such a way that really does seduce you. He’ll compliment you and you’ll know he’s not running ‘game’. Without realizing it you’ll reveal your inner secrets to him and love him for it. So to answer your questions Yasuno, Jennifer and Morgan he is, in my oppinion, the Rake and the Swift Killa.

Orlando is a stand up guy with a crazy imagination. I've met my share of people but no one lives up to him. He'll tell you a story and you'll feel like it should be a movie. If you're in some sort of trouble he'll get you out. If you are in pain he finds a way to make it disappear. But as much as you open up and confide in him he will remain a mystery to you and that’s why people are drawn to him.

I have seen this man do impossible things, even though I knew he was scared or sad to do them. "A very hott guy. Someone who you can trust, but than again cant. Easy to fall inlove with, hard to fall out of. Becareful, he might be a playa, but he'll always be there for you. He's unpredictable, and may give you a heartache ! But its worth it. May be caught up in the wrong things, but has a heart. A guy that you will never forget and will always love. The SEXIEST MAN ALIVE. Literally, this is the real deal. No one can beat this. Often used to say "great sex" and even "ONE NIGHT STAND" "

Now isn't that The Rake? I think it is....

Orlando was once a model for Barbazon where he met my sister Gwen. Gwen was the type of girl that all the guys wanted and had to have but Orlando never gave her the time of day. So she goes to him out of the blue and asks why he never tried to hit on her. Orlando tells her that though she was beautiful on the outside she had nothing of value inside.
This messed my sister up. Suddenly she was obsessed with trying to get Orlando's attention (Which I'm sure he enjoyed) She was even willing to buy a house if he'd stay there with her. Orlando never agreed. Years later after a severe drug problem Orlando showed up at the hospital. Gwen's boyfriend of two years dumped her and the doctors said she only had a month at best to live.
Orlando saw the pain she was in and took her out. I never saw my sister so happy as I did when he took her to something as simple as a park. He asked her out and she fought to stay alive just so she could be with him. She died six months later from complications. In the last days I spent with her she told me (Girls talk) that Orlando and she never actually did have sex but that he was one hell of a kisser. Orgasmic kisser were her exact words.
My dad was so happy and greatful for what Orlando did for Gwen that he offered to buy him that house Gwen was going to buy. Orlando turned him down, didn't take a dime. He just left. I met Orlando once after my sister's funeral and when I asked him why he didn't take our money he just smiled, gave me a soft kiss on the cheek and walked away.
Idon't know if that has anything to do with what kind of lover he is or how big his wang is but it should shed some light on the kind of man he is. A good one.

Swift would destroy the Rake in game. Swift just shows up and females just fall apart. (Emotionally, not like when he blew up that woman in the van in the first book) The Rake don't even fight, he just woo's a woman and that's it. That's not a man, a man will whoop a person's ass to protect his woman, I don't see the Rake doing that.

Just a quick question Mr. Santiago,

Where is Swift Killas: Origins? Since 2005 when I read the first Swift Killas novel I have been hooked, then in 2009 when Vengeance came out I wanted to scream. With rumors and websites talking about an Origins story I must admit that I am a little scared, as many origin stories suck and really…don’t we already know about Swift’s past? But if you are writing it there must be plenty of things that we don’t know. PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!!! Tell me when the next Swift Killas book is coming out and if it will have ALL the main characters that I love. Maryam, Blood, Smooth and that bad ass Snowman character. SO I beg you to answer my question. Where is Swift Killas: Origins? Where is Swift Killas: Origins? Where is Swift Killas: Origins? Where is Swift Killas: Origins? Where is Swift Killas: Origins? What I like most about Santiago's books are the visuals you get when you read them. It's like your imagination really paints a movie like picture and it just goes from there and like Tivo you can rewind pause & (but never) fast forward.
Petals of Rose was sweet and loving while the Rake was a stright porno. Both visually pleasing my eye. Then there's Swift Killas and just so I can voice my oppinion Swift and the Rake are on on par with one another.

I was watching televison one day, in between reading the Rake, and noticed a commercial. That Dos Equis' man...he's the RAKE! Listen to what they say about him it's like it's the Rake. Read these quotes please and tell me I am wrong.

(The most interesting man in the world quotes)

Police often question him, just because they find him interesting.
His beard alone has experienced more than a lesser mans body.
His blood smells like cologne.
He has amassed an amazingly large DVD collection, and has never once alphabetized it.
If he were to mail a letter without postage, it would still get there.
The pheromones he secretes effect people miles away… in a slight, but measurable way.
He once punched a magician. That’s right, you heard me.
He lived in the hills of the Serengeti for a summer after being gifted a wife by a local tribes men.
He owns 4 sports cars, and rents 5.
He taught a horse to read his email for him.
He almost broke the land speed record in 1977, popular opinion among his team was that is beard caused to much wind resistance. He would have shaved it… No, no he wouldn’t have.
He was the featured man at a bachelorette auction where he brought in over 13 million euro, under the table.
His personality is so magnetic, he is unable to carry credit cards.
Even his enemy’s list him as there emergency contact.
He never say’s anything taste like chicken… Not even chicken.
He speaks fluent French, in Russian.
His charm is so contagious, vaccines we’re created for it.
Years ago, he created a city out of blocks. Today over 600,000 people live and work there.
He is the only person to ever ace a Rorschach Test.
Every time he goes for a swim. Dolphins appear.
Alien abductors have asked him, to probe them.
If he we’re to give you directions… You would never get lost. And you’d arrive at least 5 minutes early.
His legend precedes him, the way lightning precedes thunder.
His reputation is expanding, faster then the universe.
He once had an awkward moment, just to see how it feels.
He lives vicariously through himself.
IS THIS NOT THE RAKE OR WHAT!!!!

I am jumping on the Rake band wagon, he is just the best lover ever! I think that Santiago really broke into something when he wrote this book. Hope there are many more like this one. I also wanted to say that between Swift and The Rake I give the trophy to Swift, let's be real ladies we want a man who can handle his buiness in all areas. But the Rake...God DAMN! LOL
Many thanks for the wonderful fantasies I have been able to endure due to these caharacters. =)

I picked up a copy of the Rake after I read Swift Killas: Vengeance. Huge fan of the Rake. I am so impressed how the story is told in third person and then flips to first person to let the story unfold. It just blew me away, the complexity of the characters, the detail of the sex and the plot twists that are just insane.
Rake's and Siren's have always been portrayed as predators but not these characters they are 'swift' and suave and so intense that I had to put the book down for a moment so I could catch my breath. Never in my life have I read such a visual story, a must have for every woman and a MUST read for every man.

MUCH love Mr. Santiago.

I have seen E.J’s work in the past on deviant art (deviantart.com) and I have to say it isn’t very impressive. Like most “pretend” graphic artists they never really work on an image. They manipulate an image that someone else took. This is evident all over deviant art. I will give him mad props for the way the first Swift Killas looked. That cover was nice and original in my opinion. I will say that the “Origins” Cover is pretty hot too, but I recall seeing that image before, once again a product of manipulation with no originality.
As for the book as a whole I didn’t care for the first $wift Killas but the second book and Rogue Accord were awesome and the Rake was so damn sexy!!! Since Swift Killas: Origins is going back to the beginning I may check it out but my heart is set on another Rogue Accord.

In addition to Ingrid, the Swift Killas: Origins cover is pretty tight, let's not bicker about Graphics since we don't see your name on any bad ass books. (do we Ingrid, so play nice) Keep up the good work E.J, best Swift Killas cover yet!!!

To be honest, the cover does not look like something E.J did. He might have slapped the title on there but i don't think he took that photo. If you look at his other work he's always done the same type of stuff. So while the cover does look cool, I don't think E.J gets the credit. Now as for the content within, GO SWIFT GO!!! I really like the new cover for Swift Killas but like many others I am fond of Rogue Accord, being a mother of two. My oldest girl really likes Celena and though she is a theif I think that she has alot of morels and my son loves Vincent who watches Celena like an older brother should. The team is very well put togethe with so much diversity that I see it being better than Swift Killas. Now I will read the Origins book because i see that Celena will be makiing an appearance. (My kids can't wait)

As for myself, when I'm alone and my kids are asleep I re-read my beat copy of the Rake. =) Thanks for getting my kids into reading Mr. Santiago and thank you for getting me back into it. You have brought this family together for constant nights of reading and family time. You're the best. ~Maria

The cover for Swift Killers is awesome, I have not read any of the other books but I will pick it up when I get done with the Rake...if I ever get done with the Rake. I also would like to peep the Rogue Accord, many people seem to like that as well. So Mr. Santiago you have a fan in me. I think you all should lay off E.J, he does what he does and yet Mr. Santiago uses him. His books still sell, haters. I love Swift Killas and Rogue Accord. The Rake is sexy as hell and Petals of Rose was oh so romantic. Mr. Santiago is an awesome writer and even better in person.
I met him in a book store over at the HIP, (Harlem and Irving mall) and was so approchable. He bought me coffee and asked me detailed qestions about what I liked and disliked about his books. He even waited around while I went home and grabbed my copies so he can autograph them. And he didn't just put down his signature, he left a sweet little message dedicated to me.
I don't see anyone else doing those things. do you? Yeah he very well could be the Rake and he sure as hell is the most interesting man I've ever met. Everything that is said about him in that interview at the end of his books are true. He really is like a breath of fresh air. God bless him and his work. LONG LIVE UNIQUE REALITIES!!!

I am a huge fan of the Rake and Swift Killas! I know I missed the debate about if Mr. Santiago is the Rake and who would be a better lover between Swift and the Rake but after reading the book and going though this thread I wanted to weigh in my oppinion.
I love the way the Rake is discribed and how when he is having sex its realistic not that fake Harlequin, Zane crap. It is on par with the women's best erotica stuff from Violet Blue and as for the Swift Killa, who doesn't love a man who can kick someone's ass! (Not to mention the way he boned Japhia in Swift Killas Vengeance.)
As for Orlando being The Rake I think that there is truth to him putting a little (or possiably alot of himself) into the characters. So anytime you want a comapanion mr. Santiago look me up. I wouldn't mind being Unique for a night...or two. =) XOXO

So I just watched the ending of 24 and was hoping that the writers took some advice from the Swift Killas series. I mean let’s face it; Jack Bauer could learn a thing or two from Swift, Smooth, Money or Snowman. But let’s face the facts, any die hard 24 fan would feel cheated by the lack of action, passion and brutal lethality of the last two hours.
Swift Killa’s fans, remember when Swift stormed a building by himself and took out floor by bloody floor to destroy the Latino Mafia? Do you remember the bloody carnage of Blood and Swift going toe to toe at the end of the first and second book? How about how Swift’s girl Maryam SOUSAN TURNED CHICAGO INSIDE OUT TO GET HER MAN FROM STEVE!
Did we get that in 24? Nope, what we got was some last minute B.S about peace treaties and Jack having to run into hiding again. (So they can make a movie in a year or two) The writers failed to read, watch and learn from good talent. Personally, 24 needed Unique and it “Lost” it. (Pardon the pun) As far as I’m concerned 24 is over but as I have said in the past, Swift Killas will live forever. I’m going back to re-read my Swift Killas books because I have just died when I saw the 2 finale. Just died…

Holy shit! As for the previous comments reguarding the Swift Killas series, that Swift fellow can slide into my bed too. Now that’s a man’s man. Flawed and full of male testostrone. Maryam is a fool for falling for George instead of Armando. Now as for Rogue Accord, I have to say that was some good reading but not really for me. It felt like it was more for kids but the Celena character was off the chain.

@ Joan, Sweetie, there is no need to be so rude. I was simply expressing my fondness for Swift Killers over Rogue Accord. I didn’t expect this to be a battle between to fictional characters. But if you want to go to war over something so petty then fine. Yes Swift had to be saved by Rogue Accord, Swift and Maryam but he didn’t need them.
The man stormed a whole building and killed everyone on Maybe you should sit down re-read Swift Killas and realize that you every floor by himself! Celena has yet to do something so dynamic. So she was trained by Swift, that doesn’t make her a good student. need to be more alert and aware of what happens in these ficitonal worlds. (Or maybe you are so caught up in these worlds that reality escapes you. I don’t know and I don’t care to.) Swift Killas forever!

He is the life of parties he has never attended.

If he were to punch you in the face, you would have to fight off the strong urge not to thank him.

Sharks have a week dedicated to him
He would not be affraid to show his feminine side, if he had one.
His mom has a tatoo that reads..."Son"
When he enters a museum he's allowed to touch the exibits.

Some say his found the fountain of youth but didn't drink because he wasn't thirsty.

When things got tough on the job he stood up to Imron and spoke on everyone's behalf but by doing this he put himslef in the line of fire. That's houw you know Orlando is a great man.
I hope his books have continued success in all aspect of his life and that he becomes successful enough to change that company we worked for by getting rid of the managers that would talk down to us, swear at us and belitle us in front of customers. God bless you Orlando

it's interesting to me too how everyone wanted Swift back and when they got Freddie they were all upset but what I thought was cool about the whole thing was how everyone played a part. Maryam was there, Swift was there and even Rogue Accord played a part in the book. It was as if the torch of kick ass and take names was being passed on from one character to the next. Not sure how I felt about the Car of Tomorrow but the story over all was pretty bad ass. Especially the interview and dedications. Two thumbs up!

Thats cheating! Can he kick ass any better than Swift? DID F.F storm a building like Swift or have a lovers triangle that spanned two plus books? Eh, Idk guys this might be a waste of time.

You know he does have a futureistic car but there isn't too much focus on it. There are elemnts to Fast Freddie's character that makes you really think he is just faster than Swift. He actually meets Swift and Celena in the book and learns a thing or two.

In an interview in the back of the book Orlando actually admits that he wrote the Fast Freddie book before he wrote the Swift Killas series and that Fast Freddie was a big part when writing the first Swift Killas.
Also when asked about Swift Vs. Fast Freddie Orlando hinted himself that Fast Freddie had an edge and I think that for whatever reason Swift has some sort of moral standing and is tormented by past lives where as Fast Freddie really does not give a fuck. Hard to believe I know but you really have to read this book to understand. Truly,

I have finnally see the Burn Notice episode where Westin goes toe to toe with Celena and thought that it was such a rip off! They swear that Michael Westin could best Celena. But I have also noticed that more and more women are showing up as sexy thieves in shows. is this a coincidence or or is this a sign that people in hollywood have seen or heard of Rogue Accord?

Alexis Breeze here! Just had to show some love to the creator of my favorite books, Rogue Accord and the Rake. Celena is an inspiration to so many women out there for being smart and independent while kicking ass. I read on this site that there are a few people that would love to play her in a movie and while I know that I would never be considered I would also jump at the chance to play her too. Now the Rake belongs in my next movie Mr. OSJ, bring him my way please! Much love to all that are involved in the making of these books the work of art that they are.

Peace and much love!

I was floored when I read how Maryam chose George over Armando. I was completely shocked. This was a damn good book, though long, damn good! Missed not having a new Swift Killas in the collection. They should totaly make this a TV series!

I find it interesting that so much focus in on Chicago after Swift Killas is coming to an end. With shows like the Chicago Code is the world trying to get a new Swift to replace the one that is leaving? Curious is it not?

Mr. Santiago...I like the ring of that. I heard through the grape vine that you are just about done with the finale of "Swift Killas." Perhaps I am mistaken, but my source is quite reliable. I am sure you would agree. Nevertheless, Mr. Santiago, do tell what becomes of your multilayered characters. I have to admit, however, that I am hammered by your Snow character. His witty personality and sarcastic comments are down right hilarious. I wonder if your die hard fans understand the nature of your characters. I know that I am privy to your work as you have utilized my services quite often, but I cannot help but feel drawn to specific characters more than others. Either way, I am at your beckoning call. Although my curiosity often betrays me, I shall wait patiently for this saga to end.

Swift Killas: Origins was a fat book. While I was impressed by many of the adventures of Swift I have to say I was disappointed in a few things. Why weren't there any major love scenes? After reading the Rake I was expecting Swift to throw down with some crazy moves! With sex scenes in books being such a bore I felt as though Swift moved right into that category. I understand that he didn't have Maryam because we all knew he didn't have her in books 1 or 2.
The other thing I am disappointed in was how no one really had Swift's back. Smooth was there from time to time but he wasn't sure of himself. Snowman, although bad ass, was not really with him 100 percent. Come to think of it, through all the books he really is alone. Jeeze that's just sad.
Now I loved, as I'm sure everyone else did too, the lovers triangle between Armando, George and Maryam. HOLY COW. The way it kicks off was bad ass. I love how Santiago brings the classic tale of the bad boy in Armando to light and how Maryam is torn between the right one (George) and the wrong one (Swift) the scene in the garage with the rain and him standing outside asking her to come into his world. SO symbolic. OH HOW I WANTED MARYAM TO RUN TO HIM SOOO BAD.
The other thing I loved and was kinda shocked was how well everything fell into place leading up to how the first book opened with Swift about to assassinate Maryam on her Honeymoon. It was epic how we see Blood first meet Swift on that rooftop when he's protecting the president without actually meeting Blood. WELLLL DONE!
Swift Killas: Origins has some issues but the good far outweighs the bad. LOVED IT!!!!

'SSSSUP unknown comment bloggers. As an avid reader I've been following O-Dogs style of writing and came to a successful conclusion. Your nuts! You hearing slash reading this Mr. San-TI-Ago? NUTS! Rogue Accord volume one was a mad read. Pride before fall was strangely appealing once you get past the spelling. I LOVED IT. Fucking loved it. I see it as the next best movie, the best video game on er...G4? LOL. I saw a few people saying they would like to play Celena, who by the way, is crazy beautiful. So I'm just gonna say it how it is. Fuck them and hire me! I'm the right woman for the job. I'm stealing stuff as I write this!
On to Swift Killas. I won't lie, that book is sick. Crazy sick, as in fucking awesome. If I could rape Swift and then be killed by him I'd die a happy woman. Why the hell would Maryam want to be with that loser George? I mean you have Swift and George...the name alone should have been a clue my Middle Eastern sista! This should really be a movie series. Ain't no lover's triangle gonna beat a Latin, an Arabic and a white dude.
Lastly the Rake...HOLY FUCKING GOD! That was the hottest shit I have ever masterbated to. Who do you think you are writing some erotic shit like this? I know women have tried to figure out how much of that book was real and how much was fake. So Mr. S...how much? Never mind if we ever meet in person I'll find out on my own.

One more thing....CELENA IS HOT AS HELL, can I please play her in a movie? ME, ME ME ME ME ME!!!! I promise to put back all the stuff I stole as I wrote this. I promise to act Hispanic...promise.

I loved that chapter in the Rake, titled Julie, because its such a pivital point in the book. Julie had many claim to fames in that chapter because 1 she was teaching the Rake and 2 she put up a damn good fight because she didn't sleep with him. But she taught him so well that she ends up wanting him. She may have had her own chapter but that woman earned her own spin off. If that really is the Julie from the book then God Damn! She must be someone Orlando has wanted but never got the chance to have sex with since Julie and the Rake never hooked up. Just speculating. LOL. I loved the part where she asks him to sit and when the Rake sits on the bed she's all like "Interesting choice"

The other best part was when she was naming who the real Rakes and Sirens are, and the Rake was waiting for her to say her name. Which if memory serves she never did right?

OMG NO!!! Just remembered the part where she kissed him and said it was biblical. WOW, (Maybe she and Mr. Santiago had a heavy make out session) So if that is the real Julie, please fill us in?! Is Orlando anything like his character the Rake? I know people have asked before and we've never gotten clear answers.

Did you ever make love to the Rake in real life, would you if you didn't. LOL. Did you kiss him and was in biblical? Was the Rake your favorite book? Anyone else want to know as much about the real Julie as possiable?!

What a compliment too, he must think the world of her to have said such things about her in a book such as the Rake. The Julie chapter was epic and very much needed when the Rake lost his way. Or is Orlando Santiago just a guy who writes sexual and action packed books with no life other than writing?

I bet Julie is even more beautiful in person than she is in the book. I say this after seeing what Rose looked like after seeing her in the Petals of Rose book and how beautiful Celena is in the pictures of Rogue Accord. It seems to me, that Santiago surrounds himself with beautiful people who give him the inspiration he needs to make these amazing characters that come to life. Personally it doesn't matter if he's Swift or the Rake or whomever else. The man can make anyone pick up a book and read. But that's my oppinion, I'd love to know what Julie thinks of him!? But I'm not gonna type this and not want to know any gossip she may have on Mr. Santiago. Rosemarie, yes this is the real Julie; and yes, I am one of many real true-to-life based characters.

Susan, aren’t you a clever little cookie. I don’t kiss and tell. Although, if I did biblical might be an appropriate adjective.

Maria, I can’t be sure, but I think it might be 15 years worth of evolving sexual energy.

Olivia, Fuck the bullshit, for sure. You’re cool.

Tricia, My answer to you is this.... if you wear a red dress, then you are the woman in the red dress. If you wear a little black dress, then you are the woman in the little black dress. They each evoke their own energy, their own character. Neither one is more, or less, than the real you. Just another aspect. As far as Orlando goes, I can assure you, he is devilishly handsome, has a voice like velvet, and is more complex than the finest red wine.

Celeste, I think the world of him. Orlando is an inspiration. He is brilliant, hilarious, sensual, charismatic, an excellent conversationalist, and can command a room in an instant.

Lilly, no, I don’t believe I know Alfalore, but I’ll have to ask the Big O.

So if i read this right, according to Julie's answer Santiago and Julie never did it. But it seems like they want to or at least she does. Which would lead one to believe that Orlando is a Rake, seducing and charming without ever actually having to sleep with a woman. That would make him exactly the way you ladies think he is in the books. So Orlando is more Rake than Swift Killa I think. If I'm reading this thread right. LOL

I read a French translation of the rake. I must say that I fantasized about the rake for years now. I reread the chapter with Julie and I am convinced that it is consistent with the rake. I bet she is a fierce and passionate lover. That said, I'm totally in love.

i remember a photo of Julie when Orlando and i dated. He keeps it in a shoebox along with a ton of other pics. In it he's a freshman in college, he was dating a short white girl. Opposite him was another man and his red headed date. The other girl, the red head, is julie. Now i never met her but i can tell you that she is incrediably beautiful. She's one of two ladies whom he's said had gotten away from him. The other may just be Melissa whom is in the book but I'm not entirely sure.

Orlando, I love the way your fans get so excited over your blog. You've definatly have me coming back time and time again. Now it would seem you have Julie coming back too. How nice to see you've still got that spark that made you so special. The Rake had been mentioned more times than Swift Killas or Rogue Accord. Maybe you should consider giving the fans what they want and write another Rake book.

If you need help I'd be glad to give you some discrete inspiration, if your Juliet hasn't already found herself a Romeo that is. ;) Text you soon Love.

P.S if you write another Rake book, try not to make me the villian this time.

Dear Jacob,
I honestly don’t know how to answer your question. Orlando and I have a multidimensional relationship. In many ways we’ve been deeply inside each other. We’ve shared a lust that can bring it’s flavor back to your lips days later, a lust that fills your cheeks with fire, a lust that can literally charge the surrounding air. We have penetrated each other, over and over again. I would say we have made love, if you quantify the making of something by the product that is made.

Dear Rosemarie, I am definitely bisexual.

Lily, Orlando and I have been talking about you. I think You should post pictures. ;0)

As a Gay American I have to say I find it rather difficult to find rich fiction and even more difficult to find great romance or erotica. I had a chance encounter with Orlando about six years ago when I had a major break up with my partner. I must have looked like a wreck as I came out the office for lunch because he comes up to me and places his arm around me. (Nope he didn't know me) Then like a movie tells me something to the effect of the At the end of things everything will be alright.
We get to talking like we were friends and yeah he's pretty damn attractive when he get to talking to you. I felt like I should reserve my being gay but he didn't care. He heard my story, which I'm still trying to figure out how he got me to talk, and then made me laugh. Before he left he told me I should check out a book he wrote. the Swift Killer.
Out of respect I've bought every book he's written but when he wrote the Rake I just fell in love with the depth of the character and the soul Orlando poured into it. Like I said its hard to find rich fiction and Orlando struck gold with this one. He really does have a way with making someone feel really good about themselves. The Rake is great, Swift Killas wasn't my thing but I did enjoy Rogue Accord.
That being said it doesn't matter if Orlando has physical sex with you, like the lovely Julie mentoned-he makes love to you in so many ways you never thought possiable. The only gripe I have about Orlando is that he's like an elusive unicorn. Beautiful to see but hard to find and even harder to capture.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't care how much of a nice guy he is. I've read and heard things but I just want to know what we can do to hook this party up! Julie has my head spinning with what she had to say about the man, so much so that I have to wonder about her too.

That being said, I had a wonderful fantasy about my Rake last night.

Julie do you prefer one sex over the other?
Has Orlando ever been with a guy?
Is the Rake your favorite book?
Do you life in San Francisco? (Please say yessss)

Hey is the Rake a real person? I ask because there was a couple of poetry books that came out under the Unique Realities company. In those books the Rake wrote some damn good poetry, the book was great and I was a little shock that there was no poems.
The Rake can also be a little bogus too, in his poem so sorry girls he litrally let the laundry out. Was there any truth to those poems?
Julie?
Orlando?
Anyone?

Oh I KNOW BRIANNA!!!
The poem So Sorry Girls was bogus as hell but when you read it he's not really the one who's being bogus. Its the girls which he seduces that expected him to stay or that turned him down. Either way he gave them or at least the opportunity to have stright pleasure and they fucked it up like many women do. That poem was great, he had like 13 girls

Lana, sorry love, for missing your question last time. Yes, there are several more Rakes and Sirens, and yes, some of those names sound familiar.

Richard, I loved your story! It’s perfect and I can relate so much. It’s sad that we have to keep sizing people up before we can make a connection with them; like you said, you felt like you should reserve your being gay. But why? Why is this even still an issue? I don’t mean to pose these questions to you personally, but to society. I just think our lack of social evolution is both devastating and comical. And, Richard, your last paragraph... Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Making love is SO much more the old in and out.

Lily, I have to say I do prefer to make love to a woman’s body. However, given the proper seduction, there really is no need to even look at the exterior of a person.
As far as Orlando goes, I don’t think he’s ever been “with” a guy, but I know that he is very serious and dedicated with his book research. So if he didn’t feel completely in tune with the sexual exploits of one of his characters, I wouldn’t put it past him to call a male friend for some research.
Yes, The Rake is my favorite book.
And, No, unfortunately I live all the way across the U.S.

Brianna, Yes, the Rake, is indeed very real just like his 13 conquests.

But we should never feel sorry for the seduced, for they are the ones who can completely experience the dream of seduction.

I know you guys have been patient but I have finally finished the second volume of Rogue Accord. Now make no mistake, I plan on making this the final volume with a possible full length heist at a later time. (I still have Swift Killas Origins to deal with) I will say this though, I am so honored that you have all fallen in love with these characters. I had no idea they would have reach the hearts of so many world wide.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Celena can’t thank you enough for the love you have shown the character that was loosely based on her. Jackie, Jessica, Vince and Glen (Oliver) have no idea how huge their roles are as they don’t follow the progress of the book but they too are humbled by your words of encouragement. I’ve lost touch with Rose since she is now with child and starting a new phase in her life, but I assure you all that she has heard your praises. E.J is still in charge of the Rogue Accord covers and I promise you he’ll have something special for volume two.

That being said, I would like to give you the intro to the second volume of Rogue Accord. Nothing is set in stone as of yet but keep in mind that as things change in your life, things have also changed in the lives of our kick ass rogues. But no matter how much things have changed, I assure you many things will stay the same. Welcome to Rogue Accord Volume 2’s Intro. Because you need Unique!

Intro:

The bright light that shined down on her was blinding as she sat in the center of a padded room with a restraint jacket on. Although she squinted her eyes she could see perfectly well into the darkness where her pursuer and her friend were watching.
Retired detective Berry Dash stood by the door barely able to watch as she sat in the center of the room. It wasn't too long ago when she and her former comrades were constantly being chased around the world by detective Berry Dash. She smiled at him but he quickly looked away. He was a good man, she knew that better than anyone, but he was getting too old to chase her and nearly had a heart attack. Once retired the job of catching Rogue Accord was given to a new, much younger detective, Gordon Powell.
Gordon was a lean man at 6', short black hair, dark brown eyes and the prettiest teeth she had ever seen. So pretty in fact that she tried to take a tooth or two out. His stiff upper lip bothered her every time he leaned forward and his breath always smelled like cigarettes.
“Cut the crap Candelario! Where's the rest of your rag tag team of misfits!” he shouted with such anger that Celena couldn't help but smile.
“Be glad you caught me Detective,” Celena answered but when Gordon raised his hand to back hand her Berry quickly stopped him.
“Don't lay a hand on her Detective Powell,” Berry said angrily. There was a time when Berry wanted to strike her as well but times had changed. After having to work with the infamous Rogue Accord under presidential order, Berry had an understanding with the woman and her crew. Not to mention a new found respect for the way she conducted her little organization.
“If you ever lay a hand on me again Mr. Dash I will gut you,” Detective Powell said angrily.
“Don't be jealous Detective, Berry and I go way back.” Celena laughed but it was short lived as Detective Powell back handed her.
“That's why you were never caught, but I got you now don't I. So cut the crap, I want to know everything. Start talking or God help you,” Detective Powell said pulling out his fire arm.
“You better use that then,” Celena said angrily. Detective Powell smiled before pointing the gun at Berry.
“Don't tempt me,” He said with an evil grin. The nervous look on Berry's face was enough to break Celena. At this point in time she had no options, in the restraint jacket she was wearing she wouldn't be able to stop Detective Powell in time.
“Okay. Ask me a question,” Celena said softly.
“I first met you on the train job you pulled, talk to me about that,” Powell said pulling the hammer back on his gun.
“The train job, okay.” Celena said

What can I say...Nick is right. Swift went out like a God amongst men. I honestly feel bad for his friends. He was always there for them, always had their back, Brandon especially. And that one moment when he needed them they were gone. Can you imagine if Swift had everyone there at Navy Pier? Celena, Vince, Smooth, ect?
They would have left unscathed!

The only one exempt is Maryam who in all honesty never gave up on him, even when she was trying to catch him. Even George had given up on Maryam and Swift, only to show he cared when he figured Swift was going to be pushed out the picture. In the end it was Maryam who got the short end of the stick. Even in the end she would have stood beside her man and watched the world end. Something no one, man or woman, would do today.

But I like the deeper undertones of this book/series. Swift has a rage that only makes him better! A victim of circumstances spun out of control, he has survived. If only to see the woman he loves. I believe Maryam isn't just one person, I believe Maryam is the object in which all men try to find. The perfect woman. Smart, funny, sexual, tough.

On the other hand you have George, the perfect all round nice guy. Versus Swift the all round bad boy. It's interesting to see what would happen when a girl chooses a bad boy over the nice guy. In Maryam's case she had fun but it ended horribly and in many cases it does. And what happened in the end? Swift told George it was always him...he was the right choice. That short scene, like many others in this series burns in my head. Loved it!

The last three pages...those last three pages made the whole book in my opinion. Swift...in HELL!!!!! Praying to God, then threatening him...who in there right mind would do that?! If I was in hell I would be trying to be as nice as possible. Not Swift, he told the creator of all things what to do. Loved when his prayer was answered too. Everyone he ever hurt or killed standing behind him,
NO WAY!
Most people would apologize after that. Not Swift. Heck no. Swift charged into the fray so that he could keep his deadly promise to God. Never have I read a series so incredible.

Thank you Mr. Santiago for a journey into my imagination I will never forget. May Swift someday rest in peace.

Mr. Santiago, I have been a huge fan of yours since Swift Killas. For me I thought you were just hellified creative, each book getting better and better. When you wrote Petals of Rose you opened my eyes to what real romance could be, your poetry in Unchained was a Godsend and your book the Rake opened my eyes to the softer side of promiscuity. But in the past year or two you've forgotten about me, us, the people who had your back when, as you say “No one else did.” Seriously, Swift is dead. Celena is apparently retired as is the Rake. Rumor has it you had kids but what about the rest of us who adored the underground imagination from the man who took the world of literature and made it feel more like cinema.
I've never found anything close to Swift. Nothing. No one can compete with him, he's so full of male testosterone it's scary and no one can compare. Not Bourne and sure as hell not Bond. There's no great thieves out there like Celena, hands down she's a one woman Ocean's 11 and an army of Lupin the third's couldn't keep up. And in your absence I have submitted to the Fifty Shades craze and have slapped myself and my friends for their betrayal. No matter how many smutty books I've read, no one can compete with Alfalore, Stella, Rudy, Julie or the Rake.
I guess you're done. Maybe you hung up your hat, made your money and sold out? If that's the case then I'm glad you're gone. I only hope that someone else has the creativity to stand up against the idiotic Twilight fans, the ignorant Fifty Shades of Gray fools and the horrible people who attempt to take classic stories and rewrite them for a younger less educated audience. As for me, I'm walking away from this computer and burning my copy of Fifty Shades, I pray that one day I don't do the same to your work. If you're out there, if your creativity still burns as fearsomely as our wanting to read, I pray Swift comes back from the dead, that Celena comes out of retirement and that Rake has a few more conquests to tell.

I heard there was a debate on Mr. Santiago being gone. I truly hope this is not the case. I just got into Swift Killers and adore the way Swift takes command of situation the way a man should. At least in the sequel anyway. I heard a rumor that there was nother Rake book in the works.Lord please let that be the case.

The Rake was the best ever! It had its grammatical flaws, was extremly short and the size was somewhat akward but the rake is a BILLION times better than 50 shades. Orlando does more with one page then E.L James does in two sometimes three chapters. the rake got me going when 50 shades only sparks mild interest. Where E.L James character Christopher Gray is at his best it's laughable. When the Rake is at his best... at page one! I love the way Orlando describes how the Rake enters a room with a shit load of confidence. That shit turns me on. The way he looks at a woman from across the room and knows, just knows he's taken you and lit your soul ablaze. I read this book biting my lip, rubbing my legs and breathing heavily as each page got deeper and deeper. The Rake is a true freak & I would love to (fuck) I mean meet. And if the Raje is unavailable, send Julie or Rudy or even Alfalore my way!

P.S
Orlando Santiago is a genius. So what if he hasn't written anything in a while. He's no sellout, Hoffman, if he was then we'd never get the chance to voice our opinions here. I hope we see more characters like the Rake and Swift. Because until I read about those guys, I honestly forgot what a real man was suppose to look like. I say take your break Mr. Santiago, you are worth waiting for.

I just re-read Swift Killas: Renegade for the fourth time and I can't help but cry each time I reach the end. When Swift Killas Vengeance ended I honestly thought that it was the best possible ending and when I heard that there would be another I jumped for joy but had to ask myself. “What the hell could Mr. Santiago do with Swift now?” I mean I thought to myself “If he dies with Maryam in the middle east, that is a romantic way to go.” BUT I should have known that they would find a way to survive two missiles heading toward them. The last book, when they take Maryam...my heart sank. I have never seen Swift look so strong and fierce as when he went to get his woman back. IT WAS SO ROMANTIC. But no one could have predicted both endings. To imagine him taking on the world's best assassins, hundreds of men and women and still be the last one standing?! To die with such macho magnetism, I thought I was watching the ending of 300! But the best was the second ending. To have the balls to stand tall in hell and threaten God if he didn't take care of his woman on Earth. Swift is what real men use to be. Maryam Sousan was a lucky woman.
I honestly don't know any fictional character that could beat Swift and it breaks my heart to think that he is gone.

I'm a huge Swift Killas fan and had to comment after reading SLICK, Maryam Sousan was my personal hero for years but now...move over Maryam, Valencia Phillips is twice as sexy and three times as deadly. Not too sure how I feel about Bryan Devlin just yet, mainly because Swift has had my heart for so long. So so sad he is dead.

Slick is where it's at! I can't believe how excited I was to see Celena and Maryam back in this book. It's like so much has happened to these characters since the last Swift Killas books and yet it was like seeing old friends. I loved how the torch was passed from Swift to Devlin and how the author paid homage to his later works.

That being said, my favorite character was Isabel, I hope we see more of her in the next book. There is a next one right?

A sly globetrotting thriller that gives new meaning to the phrase “Go hard or go home.”

Clever, sophisticated, and propulsive. I am constantly awed by Santiago's writing. He's well on his way to having one of the best in the thrillers in the business. Slick is meticulously plotted, psychologically complex and sexually devious.

The protagonist, Bryan Devlin is a well thought out character trying to better himself in all the wrong ways and completely successful at it. His ability to see life as a game of chess without confusing readers who have never played the game makes the book twice as much fun to read.

The sheer amount of bombshell plot twists are nothing short of extraordinary, but it’s Santiago’s portrayal of Valencia Phillips, an Interpol detective, and her quest to find the truth of Bryan Devlin’s existence makes this book such a powerful read. A must have on any book shelf.

AMAZING SEX SCENES!

One of the best thrillers I've ever read in a while.. A riveting story of great-game deceptions wrapped inside the smaller deceptions in flash backs. At moments horrifying, hilarious, and very wise, Slick has given Orlando Santiago Jr. a permanent place on my short list of must-read authors.”

Slick was a work of art, Swift is gone but there is a new badboy in town and he's sexy as fuck. Loved the sex scenes, I see something brewing between Devlin and Gail. I loved Catalina and how sexually evil she was, hope we see more of her in the sequel. The male characters are very well written and while Devlin takes the cake the women are the real show stopper. Valencia, Catalina, Isabel, Gail, Celena and Maryam, my only question is where was Julie from the Rake? In short, Slick is great, a must have and worth continuing.

Because every write pours a little of himself into every character I find it interesting that both Swift and the new protagonist is Slick, Bryan Devlin, are both calculated savage beasts who take no prisoners as they claw their way to the top. Santiago has given new life to the phrase Anti Hero and has done a remarkable job making believably strong female characters.

I've followed his work in Swift Killas, fell in love with Maryam and screamed through every page that involved Swift and Blood fighting or talking. The dialogue and action was in many ways unmatched.
I was there in Rogue Accord when Celena failed to stop her mentor, I felt her pain when she lost her best friend on the ice ship and jumped for joy when she promised she would never leave her friends again.

Slick was a game changer allowing us readers who have read Santiago's work to see what happened to his previous cast of characters and it isn't pretty but that's the world we live in. It's dark, cold place where only the most cunning and savage of us can survive. That's why Swift was so damn appealing, that's why Slick is so damn good and that's why Santiago is not to missed.
